Un thriller machiavélique

Soudain, une information tomba, la faisant tressaillir :
« — Dernière nouvelle : un avion Fokker de la compagnie Iroise Air, qui effectuait un vol touristique avec trente-trois personnes à bord, a disparu des écrans de contrôle cet après-midi à 15 heures 37. Des recherches sont mises en place pour retrouver le vol IA122. »
Claire frissonna. C’était le vol de sa vieille copine, Carole. Elles avaient été convoyeuses ensemble pendant des années et Carole avait raccroché deux ans plus tôt. Elle s’était fait embaucher par cette petite compagnie aérienne bretonne qui assurait la liaison quotidienne Brest-Ouessant ainsi que des circuits touristiques.

The Legal Measures and Social Consequences of Criminal Law in Member States on Trafficking and Smuggling in Human Beings
This is a study of the legal framework on criminal measures on trafficking and/or smuggling and facilitating illegal entry in six Member States: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, and the European Union. This issue is at the nexus of migration and criminal law. The system of criminal law in the Member States is a central part of the balance of the powers of the authorities and the rights of the citizen. The way in which civil liberties of the individual are weighed in comparison with public protection duties by the authorities is in essence a constitutional issue. The treatment of foreigners, in particular as regards their entry onto the territory and residence is not part of the constitutional settlements, but a field governed by state discretion and exceptionalism. The rules and administrative measures regarding entry, residence and expulsion of foreigners is not subject to the same civil liberties guarantees of due process as apply in criminal law. This comparative study examines how, in each Member State, the insertion of immigration into criminal law takes place.

The early-Republican era (1923-1938) was a major period of musical and cultural change in Turkey. Alaturka: Style in Turkish Music is a study of the significance of style in Turkish music and, in particular, the polemical debate about an eastern style of Turkish music (called, alaturka) that developed during this rich and complicated era of Turkish history. Representing more than twenty years of research, the book explores the stylistic categories that show the intersection between music and culture; the different chapters treat musical materials, musical practices and musical contexts in turn. Informed by critical approaches to musical aesthetics in ethnomusicology as well as musicology and anthropology, the book focuses upon a native discourse about musical style, highlighting a contemporary apprehension about the appropriate constitution of a national identity. The argument over style discloses competing conceptions of Turkish space and time where definitions of the east and the west, and interpretations of the past and the present respectively were hotly contested. John Morgan O’Connell makes a significant contribution to the study of Turkish music in particular and Turkish history in general. Conceived as a historical ethnography, the book brings together archival sources and ethnographic materials to provide a critical revision of Turkish historiography, music providing a locus for interrogating singular representations of a national past.
